‘Take That’ Singer Launches His Own Online Poker Site

Former ‘Take That’ singer, 37-year-old Robbie Williams, announced he is to launch his own gaming website simply called Robbie Williams Poker.

Robbie is known as a big fan of poker and plays regularly at the Premier Club near his home in Swindon. While residing in Los Angeles, he started his own card school and often played against the likes of Tom Jones, and he once took part in a European World Poker Series tournament in Monte Carlo where he competed against actors Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

Although Teddy Sheringham and Tony Cascarino, both former football stars, are other big names in the game, Williams is seemingly the first celebrity to start his own poker website and he calls it a “new home for free fun poker”. Instead of playing for cash prizes, Robbie Williams Poker will offer players a raft of other prizes that include concert tickets, merchandise and the opportunity to meet with the singer himself. It appears that the aim of his poker site is that it will be “great to play and be social”, although it seems some tournaments will involve a buy-in.

It may still be in the planning stage but Williams is serious about launching his new site. A spokesperson for the singer says Robbie Williams Poker is scheduled to go live early this year, at the same time underlining the fact that the site will be aimed at providing fun. It remains to be seen whether Robbie Williams Poker will become a big hitter in the game but the fact that such a big name is entering the ranks is sure to generate a great deal of interest in online poker, especially from players who may be looking for a different online gaming experience.
